So Much Puppy Love!
Steve snapped this picture of our volunteer coordinator Schuyler's two pooches, Chance and Jackson. Lucky for those of us who wish they had dogs but have no means to support them, they visit us at the office on an almost-daily basis.

Not surprisingly, a survey released yesterday claimed Latino voters will have a big effect on the midterm elections. The poll, conducted by the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials, estimated that more than 6.6 million Latino voters will "definitely" partake in November.
Encouragingly, the survey also found that if Californians were to vote for governor today, Jerry would win a staggering 34 percent more Latino votes than our opponent. Guess eMeg's siege on the Spanish-speaking airwaves hasn't swayed them that much.

Look At That Punim!
I interrupt my regularly scheduled rants to serve up an absolutely adorable photograph of Jerry as a young kid. The office is covered in family pictures of the Brown clan, including a couple of Jerry's father Pat with John F. Kennedy, but this shot is my favorite.
Visit our Flickr page for more where that came from.

Even More Ad Fails
eMeg's camp has released not one but two spots this week chock full of factual inaccuracies. We wouldn't expect anything less at this point.
The first ad has eMeg hemming and hawing about how she wants to improve California's schools, including opportunities for Latino students. It deliberately leaves out her opposition to bilingual education and the facts that she favors removing undocumented students from our state's colleges and universities and that she would deny services to children of undocumented workers - including education. Hmm, sounds like some fantastic opportunities to me (on opposite day).

The social media contingent of eMeg's minions is going crazy for a report released today by openly-conservative attorney Hans Bader (who?), whose company, the Competitive Enterprise Institute, counts Big Oil, Big Pharma, and Big Coal companies among its list of key donors. (CNBC reamed Bader in a recent interview for his ludicrous claim that President Obama 'blocked' efforts to clean up the BP oil spill.)

Supporters interested in volunteering in any capacity between now and November: Today we launched a great new tool that allows you to connect with like minds in your own communities and spearhead grassroots campaign movements throughout the state.
Please log on to My.JerryBrown.org, create an account, and start exploring. It will be a useful resource, I promise.
Here are just a few things you can do on the site:
- Create a group for a specific purpose. Each county will have its own Jerry Brown group to plan events like house parties and phone banking locally. Groups can also foster discussions among members-- this week I started one dedicated to sourcing your own ideas for a better California, and another for you to provide us with site feedback so we can fix bugs that arise and add new features you suggest.
- Connect to other supporters and find upcoming events in your area through a simple zip code search.
- Build a profile telling users why you support Jerry personally.
- Manage your personal fundraising page, where you can set your own goal and encourage others to donate.
When you join, be sure to connect to me (Carly Schwartz) so I can keep you informed of important campaign opportunities and developments!

It's Official!
Signed, sealed, and delivered from Secretary of State Debra Bowen: Edmund G. 'Jerry' Brown's official certificate of nomination as the Democratic Party's 2010 candidate for governor. This picture has been circulating like crazy through the Twittersphere; help us out by keeping its momentum.

Happy Birthday, Lila
Today is fellow campaign staffer Lila's sixth-annual twenty-first birthday. Steve just called an 'emergency meeting' and we sang to her and stuffed our faces. Now we're back at our desks in respective Ben & Jerry's Sweet-Cream-and-Cookies-Chocolate-Brownie-Ice-Cream-Cake comas.
Someone better hide the leftovers from Jerry or he will eat everything before we have a chance to notice it's missing.

Don't Forget His Day Job, Part Deux
Another week, another slew of AG success stories. Here's what Jerry's done since my last installment:
- Sued a company that made false and unethical claims that its cookware cured serious diseases.
- Arrested nine suspects in the Medi-Cal fraud scam.
- Identified suspected 'Grim Sleeper' serial killer using California's groundbreaking familial DNA search program.
- Filed a lawsuit against mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac for blocking an innovative California clean energy program that was designed to create tens of thousands of jobs, promote energy independence, and lower utility bills.
- Busted an artificial turf company for putting out a product with lead in its 'lawns.'
